SRHS Foundation Activities

Student recognition programs
The Foundation's recognition luncheon for students who have demonstrated progress in the educational and personal lives is held at Chevy's Restaurant in Railroad Square. Each May, the students, their parents and the nominating teacher are invited to a dinner where they are acknowledged with a certificate and a family photograph.

Annually, the Foundation grants a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student. Among the criteria for the scholarship is an overall contribution to SRHS.

Academic enhancement program
Throughout the school year, the Foundation grants requests made by administration, faculty, students and school organizations to fund projects the existing budget cannot. Grants have included books, audio-visual teaching aids, faculty and counseling conferences, athletic uniforms and equipment, science instruments, computers and software, agriculture and auto shop equipment, athletic field improvements, transportation, dance and cheerleading support, campus beautification, and numerous other projects.
Join Us!
With your membership in the Foundation, you will receive a newsletter five times during the year that will inform you of both SRHS and Foundation events. The newsletter also contains articles of interest contributed by the membership and interested individuals. The newsletter also contains information about such special events as class reunions, the Polenta Feed (the annual "All-Years Reunion") and the golf tournament. Membership dues are $25 a year (tax-deductable), 100% of which goes to SRHS for funding requests.

Alumni Support

The Foundation also serves as an alumni association And sponsors events of interest to SRHS graduates and friends. The annual Polenta Feed has become the social event of the year, attended by over 600 Panthers over a wide range of years. In 2006, the Foundation participated in the program to recognize the 26 SRHS students interred in 1942 because of their Japanese heritage. Yearly, the Foundation conducts informative and entertaining tours of the remodeled campus and hosts campus barbeques for reunions.

Newsletter

The Foundation's newsletter is prized and anxiously awaited by its membership. Not only does the newsletter focus on current events, but it contains articles about SRHS history, alumni and traditions. It also regularly prints information about class reunions and the "doings" of alumni in the gossipy "Panther Patter" column. The newsletter welcomes article and photo submissions. Please visit this page for more information regarding submissions.
